I do not know. The point of using it is that it is a shelf-stable dry protein source which rehydrates easily with minimal effort. As soon as you use something that requires you to clean a cutting board or a preparation utensil, it is no longer Lazy Bastard Soup.
TVP is widely available. I was even able to find it in rural New Mexico. The Bob's Red Mill variety, at the very least, ought to be around somewhere.
